Bologna 1:1 Juve in the derby in Serie A

After the postponed game of Serie A Bologna and Juventus ended draw in this midweek Serie A clash.
The hosts scored a goal in the 17th minute after their first serious situation in front of the door of their opponents. The captain Marco di Vaio sent the ball in the lower right corner of Buffon's door.
Until the end of the first half Juventus did not make a serious threat to Bologna's door, while the hosts were keeping advantage.
The second half began in a similar manner to the first one, but in the 58th minute after a counter attack the Montenegrin Mirko Vučinić scored for Juve after an accurate pass from the captain Alessandro Del Piero.
Untill the end of the game Juve's player Claudio Marchisio missed a 100% goal chance.
In the 83rd minute Leonardo Bonucci again from Juventus received a second yellow card and was sent out just a bit after the referree cast out the coach Antonio Conte, because of protesting.
At the end both teams shared their points. Juve remain undefeated, but still are 2 points behind Milan who are 1st in Serie A

Match Report: Chelsea 1 Birmingham 1

First half

Very little happened in the opening 10 minutes apart from a determined run into the Birmingham area by Daniel Sturridge, but forced wide he eventually knocked the ball out for a goal-kick. On 12 minutes Birmingham were forced into a change, losing their veteran captain Stephen Carr to injury. Three minutes later, Mata, in the part of the pitch partly policed by Carr's replacement Jonathan Spector, almost plucked a Sturridge cross out of the air with his back to goal but as he turned, it ran out of play.Then, on 19 minutes, a previously drab encounter exploded into life in favor of the guests from Birmingham.

First the visitors took the lead. Having won a corner, it was played into the near-post area where David Luiz couldn't clear it. Ivanovic also missed the chance to make contact which left David Murphy in space to drill the ball home from close range. That was the first shot of the game from either side and it had inflicted a blow to Chelsea confidence.The chance to slap the Championship side back down came just two minutes later when an unnecessary and clumsy challenge by Wade Elliott tripped Ramires in a crowded penalty area.Mata, who scored with his previous Chelsea penalty, was the obvious choice to take it with Lampard and Drogba on the bench but his low shot was tipped onto the post and was then cleared. It was a good save by Colin Doyle.

25 minutes and Sturridge was not far away from finding Torres with a cross but Curtis Davies interrupted it. Chelsea remained on top for the rest of half but without creating enough chances.Sturridge, from the left this time, put a little too much pace on a curling cross for Ivanovic, who had evaded the offside flag. Chelsea by now had switched to 4-2-3-1 with Mata now central and Ramires on the right. Sturridge for a short spell decided to shoot at every opportunity and his best effort was a dipping one that didn't clear the bar by much. Birmingham's only effort of the half since their goal saw Cech save comfortably from Redmond.

In the second half, Drogba replaced Torres. Chelsea continued to dominate possession but a good link between our midfield and attacking play was not there, although one Mikel long pass almost picked out a well-placed Drogba. In the 54 minutes, Cahill was wrongly booked for what was nothing more than good strong defending on Birmingham's lone striker Adam Rooney and two minutes later, the manager of Chelsea made a second change, bringing on Kalou for Mikel.There were 61 minutes played when the Spaniard spotted Ivanovic in space down the right and found him with the necessary pass. The cross from the Serbian was delivered with pace and accuracy and it was given the finishing touch it deserved, Sturridge guiding a header inside the far post to put his side back level.

The quest was on for a winner. Kalou headed over from a Drogba cross and Ivanovic got the ball tangled among his feet after Mata had volleyed a cross with the power of a shot. Meireles then had a shot from the edge of the area deflected up and just over the bar. There was a rare shot from Birmingham on 76 minutes after Ramires had conceded a free-kick, but Cech gathered it low down. The Chelsea defence, and Cahill in particular, were proving solid. With 12 minutes left on the clock, Lampard replaced Mata. Drogba hadn't been involved much but he won a corner soon after that latest switch. With 86 minutes Birmingham did have their chance to win after the Chelsea defence was caught square as Jervis knocked the ball forward but Redmond fluffed his big moment and the save was easy for Cech.Wth 89 minutes gone and the rain now falling, Chelsea's chance came when Ivanovic was fouled 20 yards out and in a central position. Lampard however hit the free-kick into the wall.It had been an improved second-half display but despite substitutions, the cutting edge was not sharp enough.

22nd round of the Bundesliga

During the last 22nd round in the German Bundesliga only one team from the top was unable to get its victory - Bayern Munich. The team failed to win over one of the weaker team - Freiburg and after it did not score a goal in their door, the end result was 0:0. Because of this Borussia Mönchengladbach got second in the Bundesliga with 46 points, just one point ahead of Bayern Munich and 3 points behind the leader at the moment Borussia Dortmund. Borussia won against Hertha BSC Berlin with 1:0, preserving its 1st place. SV Werder Bremen got 3 points and beat Hamburger SV who fell from the 10th to 11th place. Köln also lost position and fell behind to the 14th place being dangerously close to the last 3 positions. The top in the Bundesliga is intense as always with all of the teams there having actual chances of getting the trophy.

Three Own Goals helped Liverpool Dominate Over Brighton

Liverpool earned a 6-1 win yesterday against Champinship team Brighton & Hove Albion. This means they'll play against Stoke City in the next round of FA cup. This means they'll have the opportunity to win 2 trophies by the end of the season.
The Reds started with a goal in the very first minutes of the match. Martin Skrtel scored after a corner kick in the 5th minute. Liverpool played well prior to the 17th minute, when they received a goal from more than 30 meters. Kazenga LuaLua scored a spectacular goal after a tricky execution of a free kick. Liverpool againt launched numerous attacks to Brighton's goal and Suarez, Carroll, and Gerrard (from a free kick) tried unsuccessfully to score. In the last minute of the first half, after a chaos in front of Brighton's goal, received second goal. Luis Suarez shot, Brighton's goalkeeper Brezovan saved and the following Glen Johnson's header was not cleared by the defenders. The ball hit Bridcutt's foot and went into the net.
The second half started with a strong Liverpool dominance, which produced a goal in the 57th minute. A combination between Suarez, Gerrard, and Downing resulted in a pass of the latter to Andy Carroll, who scored with an accurate shot In the 71th minute, Gerrard fired a shot from an almost impossible possition. Bridcutt tried to clear the ball, but was unsuccessful and scored an unlucky own goal for a second time. Four minutes later Brighton's players scored their third own goal in the match. Lewis Dunk scored one of the most unfortunate own goals ever seen. Without the preesence of any Liverpool players around him, he attempted to calm down the ball and clear it away, but instead of that kicked the ball in his own goal. In the 81st minute Suarez missed a penalty kick, and a few moments later Dirk Kuyt's shot hit the bar. After all, in the 83rd minute, Suarez scored the last goal in the match with a header against the empty net, after an assist from Andy Carroll.

Jose and Cristiano Humiliated Again

The last El Classico proved that Jose and Cristiano, the famous combination of arrogance, cannot stand the formidable pressure of Barcelona's team. It was a beautiful game, and Real had some real chances to defeat Barcelona, but at the end, the genius of Lionel Andres Messi proved that it comes from God himself. The attacker made a great contribution toward the humiliation of the White Ballet. Jose Mourinho, the Special One, the King of Coaching, the greatest manager the world has ever seen, had to face another defeat which showed that there are better teams than Real and that he is powerless against the might of Barca. Some people even say that he will lose his position of being the most special god in the galaxy; although he never becomes sad, such miserable defeats have the power to teach him to taste the bitter defeat. This would be a nice lesson for the Portuguese specialist. The Portuguese player and playboy Cristiano Ronaldo could also gain benefit from the humiliation and become a modest monk who does think he is the the greatest talent in football.

Match Report : Chelsea : 1 Sunderland : 0

The team of Chelsea won with the score of 1-0 at home to Sunderland in the match on 21 th round of English Premier League. Frank Lampard’s goal was scored in the 13th minute - after a spectacular scissor kick by Fernando Torres, after which the ball hit the bar.

The game started with an incredible miss for "the black cats" - in the 3th minute a cross from the right was missed by all Sesenyon Stefan, Sebastian Larsson and James McLean which failed to direct the ball into the net of Petr Cech. Chelsea opened the score in the 13th minute when Juan Mata centered on the right and Fernando Torres with a great side scissors hit the crossbar. The ball came right back to Frank Lampard and he, although in a little lucky way, scored.

In the 31th minute Torres directed the ball with a header after a cross from Ramires, but Sunderland defender deflected the ball. In the 35th Nicklas Bendtner almost scored with a very dangerous shoot but the ball went just inches away from the bar.

Five minutes after the break Torres missed a chance to double the result, and in 56 minutes a great opportunity for Chelsea was wasted by Ramires. In the 57th minute and Mata also failed and a minute later the guest team requested a penalty for a foul against Bendtner. In the 64-minute McLean made another spectacular miss for Sunderland.

In the 73-minute Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien substituted Lampard after a long absence through injury, and recorded his first game of the season. In the final minutes Craig Gardner and , once again, Bendtner missed another great opportunity to equalize the score and the blue team from London won the 3 points.

Chelsea is fourth in the standing with 40 points - 8 less than the leaders Manchester City (who have one less match) and Manchester United, and 6 points away from Tottenham. Sunderland is 11th with 24 points.

Strong Swansea deny Arsenal

Swansea had defeated Arsenal with 3-2 as hosts in the 21st round in the Premier League. The teams started playing and it was no wonder that Arsenal took the lead in the 4th minute. Van Persie controlled the ball and after a successful dribble in the penalty box, took a shot and scored his next goal for Arsenal. Soon enough Swansea brought the play into Arsenal's half. in the 16th minute, Dyer was fouled by Aaron Ramsey in the penalty box, and the referee had no hesitations showing the white spot. Sinclair showed no mercy and scored, equilizing the score. in the 29th minute van Persie had the opportunity to score again but his shot was deflected by Michael Vorm. Untill the end of the first half Arsenal and Swansea had some goal opportunities but Vorm and Szczesny `did well to keep the score 1-1. The second half started with a boom, and both teams demonstrated a dynamic play.After the first five minutes, which were mostly for Arsenal, Swansea mostly controlled the match. In the 48th minute Arshavin crossed to Benayoun, who striked wide. In the next 10 minutes Swansea won many corners and actually had managed to push Arsenal back and to search for the goal. And there came the minutes. In the 57th minute Dyer was found uncovered and with a loop shot he gave Swansea the lead. It took only 12 minutes for Arsenal to react when Walcott was found in great position and scored for Arsenal to equilize. After only 45 seconds Graham had scored the third for Swansea, putting Arsenal in shock. Arsenal were exhausted and didn't have much opportunities to score so they focused on the corners and free-kicks. In the 89th minute Rosicky tried to score extraordinary goal from a volley, but his shot went wide and high. After this win Swansea goes 10th place with 26 points, while Arsenal is 5th with 36 points.

David Villa Probably Won't Finish the Season after a Heavy Injury

Barcelona forward David Villa probably won’t finish the season because of a severe injury, announced the Spanish team. Villa received the injury during the match with Al Sadd at the 1/2-final stage of the Club World Cup as the worst predictions were confirmed: a fractured tibia in his left leg.

Villa was hospitalized in Yokohama, where he will be a thorough a close examination. Even his participation in the European Championships next summer is questioned by the Spanish media. These types of fractures require a recovery of minimum six months.

They need to get 5 goals difference so that they could have a chance to qualify and Rubin should fail to get a point from the game today.
During the last round PAOK won against Tottenham and this secured their participation in the next phase of the tournament. This was though concidered by many as something normal, because at that time they were competing for their place in the more prestigeous Champions League. In my opinion the game between PAOK and Rubin Kazan will end with a result similar to the one before, which was 2-2. Rubin, however, will be the team that will seek the victory from the game, because it will guarantee them the place in the next phase.

Manchester City did their job but dropped out the Champions Leage

Manchester City finished their job and won with 2: 0 over Bayern Munich in their last match of the Champions League, but the three points they gained are not enough for the English to qualify for the elimination phase of the tournament. David Silva and Touré Yaya scored for the team from Manchester against the reserve team of Bayern, but that success was not enough for their team to continue, as Napoli won the derby with Villarreal in Spain and it threw out Man City.

United had to take a point to continue, but actually what happened was not good for them. The nightmare started in the 9^th minute when Shaquiri crossed to Frei who received the ball, which was supposed to be cleared by Smalling and Frei scored the opening goal. The middle of the first half ended and United had no good opportunities, and were extremely uncreative. In the 26^th minute Rooney had opportunity to score but his shot went wide. The end of the half was intense and Basel could have scored a second goal and practically end the match. The second half started and the host team was much more confident from the advantage they had and only Nani for Manchester United was doing something in the Red Devil’s attack. However, Rooney has missed many opportunities and United could have scored at least twice in the 65 and the 77^th minute. In the 84^th minute the match ended when Frei scored his second goal and the stadium literally blew up. In the 88^th minute Phill Jones scored for 2-1 for United but this goal didn’t prove anything because until the end nothing happened and United were thrown out of the tournament. United finished at 3^rd place and will play in Europa League, whiole Basel were 2^nd and continue their way through the last 16.

Mario Götze - the best young soccer player in Europe

Mario Götze is right now the star of the German champions Borussia Dortmund. He was officially awarded the "Golden boy" award for best young player in Europe, which is given to soccer players below the age of 21. Last year it was awarded to the Italian Mario Balotelli who is now a striker in Man City. The poll, which decided who will recive the award, was held by 30 journalists from the biggest sports media in Europe. It is organized by the Italian "Tuttosport".
Götze will be awarded "Golden boy" just before the game against Kaiserslauten this Sunday. So far in his career the German has played in 51 games of Borussia and has scored 11 goals in the Bundesliga, as well as 2 goals for the German national team.

Golden Ball 2011

Earlier today became the names of the three players who will compete for the Golden Ball for the 2011 year became clear. Match Report : Manchester United : 1 Crystal Palace : 2

The 17-year old Leonardo Bittencourt signed a contract to play for Borussia during the next soccer season. The midfielder used to play for FC Energie Cottbus, which plays in the 2. Bundesliga.
Bittencourt was also a prime target of one of the major opponents of Borussia - Bayern Munich. The midfielder will cost to Borussia about 2,8 million euro and his contract expires in 2016. „Es ist ein junger, talentierter Spieler", said Michael Zorc about Bittencourt. In English this means that he is a "young talented player" - the exact type that Borussia seeks for its team. I'll look forward to seeing him as a midfielder of one of the leading German teams.

Liverpool beat again Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and are Carling Cup semifinalists.

Liverpool reached the semi finals, when beating Chelsea again at Stamford Bridge with 2-0. Both teams met in a match for the Premier League and Liverpool won with 2-1. This time the managers started their formations with many young player, thus allowing them to play this season, and giving them opportunity to show up. The match started with a slight territorial advantage for Chelsea, but Liverpool had no problems in defense. I the 7th minute Enrique crossed to Carrol who fell to the ground, and there were hesitations about a penalty but the referee gave none. However, in the 21st minute in a similar case Liverpool received a penalty and Carrol was there to take it. He took a powerful shot but Turnbull saved it and eventually Chelsea were still in the game. In the last moments of the first half Lukaku made a powerful and decent shot, which made Reina helpless but the ball went wide, and the two teams went at the brake 0-0. The second half started and Chelsea were the slightly better team. in the 55th minute Lampard almost scored a goal from 27 meters, and hit the bar, after which Luiz tried with a header but his shot was deflected and went into corner. Chelsea were attacking, but that oppened much field for Liverpool counter attacks and in one of them in the 58th minute, Bellami was through and gave the ball to Maxi who just scored from 3 meters and took the Reds in front.
The shock was full for Chelsea when in the 63rd minute Bellami crossed from a free-kick and the defender Martin Kelly scored his first goal for Liverpool and made the result 2-0. Chelsea tried to push and in the 73rd minute Anelka had a good opportunity to score, but Reina and Carragher managed to stop the striker's two attempts for a goal. Till the end of the match Chelsea attacked but their attacks were unsuccessful and soon the final whistle blew, officially qualifying Liverpool for the semi finals at Carling Cup. Liverpool will face Manchester City, which defeated Arsenal at Emirates Stadium with 1-0. The other semi final will be between Cardiff City and Crystal Palace.

The team of Liverpool won the derby with Chelsea in the 12th round of the Premier League and again proved that played far better against teams in the top of the rankings than against those in the lower half of the table. Manchester United record another 1-0 win over Swansea City.

England Champions Manchester United has won another match with 1-0 and maintained the distance of 5 points between their city rivals Manchester City. United were supposed to win in this match because earlier that day City won against unbeaten Newcastle with 3-1 at Newcastle. The match started with slight advantage for Swansea, but in the 11th minute defender's mistake lead to the United goal. Ryan Giggs passed the ball to Hernandez, who at close distance left no chance for Vorm, and united went in front. Swansea played in a organized way and in the 23rd minute they had golden opportunity to equalize. Graham and Routhledge passed the ball greatly, and then Graham found Sinclair who could not kick the ball, and missed to score. Swansea tried to equalize, but Vidic and Ferdinant were solid in defence and that is why, Swansea's attacks were held down till the half time. After the second half had begun Sinclair had huge chance to score, but De Gea denied it, so United were still in lead. In the 73rd minute Williams and Graham had a great chance but both their shots were blocked by Ferdinand, who became without doubt the man of the match for Manchester United.
