Three Own Goals helped Liverpool Dominate Over Brighton
Liverpool earned a 6-1 win yesterday against Champinship team Brighton & Hove Albion. This means they'll play against Stoke City in the next round of FA cup. This means they'll have the opportunity to win 2 trophies by the end of the season.
The Reds started with a goal in the very first minutes of the match. Martin Skrtel scored after a corner kick in the 5th minute. Liverpool played well prior to the 17th minute, when they received a goal from more than 30 meters. Kazenga LuaLua scored a spectacular goal after a tricky execution of a free kick. Liverpool againt launched numerous attacks to Brighton's goal and Suarez, Carroll, and Gerrard (from a free kick) tried unsuccessfully to score. In the last minute of the first half, after a chaos in front of Brighton's goal, received second goal. Luis Suarez shot, Brighton's goalkeeper Brezovan saved and the following Glen Johnson's header was not cleared by the defenders. The ball hit Bridcutt's foot and went into the net.
The second half started with a strong Liverpool dominance, which produced a goal in the 57th minute. A combination between Suarez, Gerrard, and Downing resulted in a pass of the latter to Andy Carroll, who scored with an accurate shot In the 71th minute, Gerrard fired a shot from an almost impossible possition. Bridcutt tried to clear the ball, but was unsuccessful and scored an unlucky own goal for a second time. Four minutes later Brighton's players scored their third own goal in the match. Lewis Dunk scored one of the most unfortunate own goals ever seen. Without the preesence of any Liverpool players around him, he attempted to calm down the ball and clear it away, but instead of that kicked the ball in his own goal. In the 81st minute Suarez missed a penalty kick, and a few moments later Dirk Kuyt's shot hit the bar. After all, in the 83rd minute, Suarez scored the last goal in the match with a header against the empty net, after an assist from Andy Carroll.
