Russia Is the Host of World Cup 2018

A few hours ago, Russia was chosen the host of World Cup 2018. The country of vodka and Stalin was preferred to rich and prosperous countries such as Holland, Belgium, England, Spain, and Portugal in the fight for the prestigious award. Maxim Elin, a Russian soccer fan, said that this was a great success not only for Russian football but also for the Russian people. Russia will now have the chance to prove that it has turned into a truly modern country, which should not only be associated with alcoholism and Communism. In the last several months, the bidding process turned into a state affair as the Prime Minister Vladimir Putin personally ordered the minister of sports to make sure that Russia wins over other candidates. The football star Andrey Arshavin also commented on the choice, saying that the world cup will "change the views" about Russia and that the whole country has the ambition to make the first time they'll be hosting this event a really unique one.
