Real Madrid finally break the curse and are through to the last 8

Real Madrid broke their bad streak for the last six years, by going to the quarter-finals in the Champions League. The team from Madrid was eliminated in the last 16 for the last six years. This year, however, the whites have eliminated their nightmare from last year Olimpique Lyon, which have eliminated Real last year. Real won with 3-0 in Santiago Bernabeau Stadium, showing different and brilliant play comparing to other previous times. Real started the match in a very aggressive manor, and in the very beginning they had a chance to score an opening goal. In the first 10 minutes Marcelo, Ozil, and Ronaldo had chances to score but Lorris’ saves were keeping the score tie. While the match was progressing the host team started pressuring the guest team and in the 37th minute Marcelo scored a marvelous goal, which gave the lead for Real. The second half started in almost the same way as the first half and Real were the dominating team. In the 64th minute Benzema fell into the penalty box, but no penalty was given. Three minutes later, Benzema showed his class and scored to make Real more confident in the score. Lyon started mobilizing, and there were some opportunities for Gomis to score, but Casillas saved Real from goal. In the 76th minute, Real have decided the match with a third goal scored by Di Maria. Ozil made another assist, and with a through pass, made Di Maria’s work very easy. Gomis had a good opportunity for Real, but Casillas was on his place. The rest of the match went in a slow mood, where both teams were more like resting than playing. When the match ended Real were celebrating, and their opponent is going to be determined on Friday, March 18.
