Safest sprot ever? Paintball?!?

Not long ago some of us posted an artticle about the most dangerous sport - cheerleading. However surprising this was, according to some statistics the most safe sport is paintball! Of course there is no clear and absolutly unbias data about any of this, but according to many, after comparison between more than 30 sports, paintball was the safest one. The reason - most (acctually all in official tournaments) play in full gear protected from any of the balls. What is more the terrain is never risky. Official games are often played on one floor (or not even in a building) and even if the "map" is bigger, the dangers are always removed before the actual game. Due to this there is probably not a single death caused by the sport itself. According to the National Injury Information Clearinghouse of the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission paintball is the sportest with only 0.24 injuries per 1000 contestants. Even bowling is after paintball with 0.5 The most dangerous sport according to the same organisation is skiing with 261.84 per 1000, again. Surprise or not, the statistics of an organisation like the National Injury Information Clearinghouse of the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission usually don't lie.

Before the game: Levski - CSKA

The "вечно дерби" is how this match is known in Bulgaria, meaning the never ending derbi.

What makes it so special? Since the mid 50s, Levski and CSKA proved to be the 2 most successful Bulgarian team. Their are also the teams with most fans in Bulgaria. Simply those statistics make the game so interesting. And what about tomorrow's game in particular? Well, this is the first match of the second half of the season. The game will show the team's performance and how well each of the teams have practiced during the winter brake. What's more some new players (Daniel Dimov and Matondo for Levski) might appear in the game, recieving a wonderful chance for debute - against the eternal enemy. The top scorer of the league seems in good shape (G.Dembele- Levski PFC), but so do the CSKA players. In my opinion Milen Radukanov will prefer the team play instead of individual efforts. What about the result? Curently CSKA are 6th with 6 points less then the first, Levski. But does this mean the score is obvious. In my opinion not. Both Levsi and CSKA had previously proven strong after a serious crisis, and maybe this is the game where the red might prove their history deserved. Anyhow the coefficients give a lower number for Levski, for obvious reasons. What do I thing about the whole thing? All I can be sure is that we won't see more than a 2 goal difference. All three endings of the match are possible.

Why is football soccer in the US??

red is soccer
blue is football
green - disputed

Or simply why do we call the same sport with 2 different names? As you know in the US football means something comletely different from what we mean by football. And soccer? Well soccer is only called in the Americas. At first, since the creation of written football rules, the game's name was football. Back then, the organisation in England (the home of football) was called Football Association (1863). However after the sport became extremely famous, many people of non-English nations started calling the sport soccer, coming from the short-name of the Football ASSOCiation. While this was happening, USA was gaining strenght in sports. The americans called their rugby "football", because of the part where you get to kick the ball with your foot. The original name however remained in England, and the rest of the non-english-speaking countries. However in Austria, USA and Canada (as well as few more) the name became soccer. Check the picture for modern usages of football for football.

Mountain bikes: DownHill

What do you know of moutain bikes?

Not much I guess. But did you know that there are European, local for each country, even World Mountain Bike Cup. But the category I want to focus on, the sport I've practised for the past 2 years is called DownHill (often used as DH). What makes this sport so different from the other Mountain Bikers? Everything. As you can understand from the name, it is down the hill, it's about riding down, using the slope to speed you. Nowadays it is practised all over the world, in this number smaller countries like Bulgaria and Serbia. What makes people like it so much? For some it is the passion of sliding an inch from a tree with 60km/h; for others it is the fear oposing their idea of bravery (and craziness); for others it is simply addiction. For me it is all the 3.

What about the gear?

Well, the most important piece of equipment is the bike. It's price can be from 900$ to the cosmic 20 000$. In my opinion for a beginer a bike for 1000-2000$ is perfect. Then you need the protection - the helmet is a "must" have. Other protective gear you may (in my opinion if you want to be protected enough you must buy them) is a body armor, knee and elbows protection, gloves. You may go even further by buying a neck-protector, a butt-protector and even special shoes. In my opinion the heavier you are is not a guarantiee you will be save. After all the sport opposes some risk.

Golf

Golf is a precision club-and-ball sport, in which competing players (golfers), using many types of clubs, attempt to hit balls into each hole on a golf course while employing the fewest number of strokes. Golf is one of the few ball games that does not require a standardized playing area. Instead, the game is played on golf "courses," each of which features a unique design, although courses typically consist of either nine or 18 holes. Golf is defined, in the rules of golf, as "playing a ball with a club from the teeing ground into the hole by a stroke or successive strokes in accordance with the Rules." Golf competition is generally played for the lowest number of strokes by an individual, known simply as stroke play, or the lowest score on the most individual holes during a complete round by an individual or team, known as match play.
Origin
The origin of golf is unclear and open to debate. Some historians trace the sport back to the Roman game of paganica, in which participants used a bent stick to hit a stuffed leather ball. One theory asserts that paganica spread throughout Europe as the Romans conquered most of the continent, during the first century B.C., and eventually evolved into the modern game. Others cite chuiwan ("chui" means striking and "wan" means small ball) as the progenitor, a Chinese game played between the eighth and 14th centuries. A Ming Dynasty scroll dating back to 1368 entitled "The Autumn Banquet", shows a member of the Chinese Imperial court swinging what appears to be a golf club at a small ball with the aim of sinking it into a hole. The game is thought to have been introduced into Europe during the Middle Ages. Another early game that resembled modern golf was known as cambuca in England and chambot in France. This game was, in turn, exported to the Low Countries, Germany, and England (where it was called pall-mall, pronounced “pell mell”). Some observers, however, believe that golf descended from the Persian game, chaugán. In addition, kolven (a game involving a ball and curved bats) was played annually in Loenen, Netherlands, beginning in 1297, to commemorate the capture of the assassin of Floris V, a year earlier.
Equipment
Golf clubs are used to hit a golf ball, Each club is composed of a shaft with a lance (grip) on the top end and a club head on the bottom. "Long" clubs, which have a lower amount of degreed loft, are those meant to propel the ball a comparatively longer distance and "short" clubs, a higher degree, a comparatively short distance. Typically, the actual physical length of each club is longer or shorter, depending on the distance the club is intended to propel the ball. The "driver" is the largest-headed and "longest" club. Woods are slightly shorter but still comparatively large-headed clubs, used for long-distance fairway shots. Woods are now typically made of metal; the traditional name "woods" remains in general use but is gradually being replaced by the term "fairway metal." Next shorter in length are the irons, the most numerous and versatile class used for a wide variety of shots. Hybrid (golf) clubs which embody characteristics of both woods and irons in varying degrees, are increasingly being used in preference to long irons in many places because they are easier for the average golfer to use. Last but not least, putters are used to roll the ball across the green into the cup.

Golf is a game for rich people who don't have time for a walk in the mountains or in the park so they chose that sport in order to combine the friendship and their jobs. Usually on the golf fields a lot of good deals between people are made because of the relaxed mood of both sides. That is why golf clubs are created in order to share experience and information with other players not only on the field but on the meeting of the clubs and the duty of the club is to make relationships between people even stronger. And due to that fact even whole families are playing golf because they combine the sport with a nice walk in the field which is as a park and sharing personal information.

The Lesbians and the Sports - Softball?

Many people consider softball as a lesbian sport, atracting many proffesional and fan players from the homosexual female side of the world. However the streotypes go as far as people start saying that all female softball players are lesbian. Well, we always knew that women can't stay too far away from balls and pointy stuff like bats, even if their sexual orientation is not very straight. But do the steriotypes have any reason? Indeed, this is the sport were many lesbians not hiding their true orientation play openly. According to famous sport commenter, Vitsata, this might as well prove true. What is more according to the NY Post reasearch, more than 50% of the questioned believe that softball is indeed a gay sport. In my opinion, similarly to Vitsata's, there is a reason for the stereotype's exiistence. The question is wether this is due to the female players' lack of make-up during to the games, or due to actual reasons.

p.s I don't really get the pic, but you may try...

Milner - we'll do everything to beat Man Utd

James Milner is a member of the English club Manchester City and of the English national team. He is looking forward to the derby against their opponents from the same city. He expects that they'll be the winners and that his team will make a spectacular derby during one of the most tense games in the Premier League.

"We are confident and we have world-class players all the way through the side. We have younger players and older players and it's a good mix here." said the midfielder of Man City

Milner went on saying: "We know we can keep improving and we will do that. We work hard in training and we have great scope to go on and become even better. I think that's the main thing, to move forward as a team"

Right now Manchester City is 3rd with 49 points while their opponents are leading the Premier League. Gaining 3 points in this game may be vital for both teams. It will be a difficult match and as Milner said: "It's obviously a massive game. It's one everyone wants to win. It will be a tough game and it's up to us to go there, perform and try and get a result"

Real Madrid destroyed Sociedad

Real Madrid earned a spectacular 4-1 victory against the average team of Real Sociedad yesterday with the goals of Kaka (7), Cristiano Ronaldo (21 and 42) and Emmanuel Adebayor (88). Alvaro Arbeloa scored an own goal. After the 11th home win in a row for Los Blancos they are 7 points behind Barcelona.
Jose Mourinho made some serious changes in the starting 11 changing Angel di Maria with Kaka and Sami Khedira with Lassana Diarra. Ezequiel Garay also returned to the pitch after a long period of absence.
All of that changes seemed to have effect on Madrid's playing style and resulted in their total domination.
After scoring 2 goals against Sociedad Cristiano Ronaldo's total in La Liga is 24 - exactly equal to Leo Messi's number of goals.

Robert Cubica Seriously Injured in a Rallycrash

Robert Kubica is out of F1, he stayed in the hospital for the weekend in an induced coma because of a terrible high-speed rallying accidentThe 26-year-old Polish had seriously injured his right leg, arm and hand at a car crash on the Ronde di Andora Rally. Robert drives for Lotus Renault F1 team and last Sunday he was airlifted to Santa Corona Hospital after collision with his Super 2000 Skoda Fabia in a wall at high speed. Certain reports claimed that Robert was in danger of losing his hand, which was greatly injured in the crash, although later those reports proved to be false. However, Professor Mario Igor Rossello, a surgeon specialist, who was involved in the 7.30 hour operation to recover Kubica's hand, said that it was too early to conclude the long-term implications of Robert’s injuries.
"The operation was really difficult and important," said the surgeon, “Robert's right forearm was cut in two places, with significant lesions to the bones and the tendons. We did our best to rebuild the functions of the forearm, but it took seven doctors, split into two teams, a total of seven hours to complete the operation… At the end of the operation, Robert's hand was well vascularised and warm, which is encouraging. Robert will stay under constant monitoring because his condition is still serious.”
Kubica is satisfied with the surgeryKubica told the reporters that he is "moderately satisfied" with the surgery to recover his hand, but said that some time would pass before doctors could determine if the hand would be "able to return to full function". He noted: "The danger is, in five-seven days you can have vascular problems, and we could do surgery again to solve these problems."
When asked what is the best prognosis for recovery would be, the specialist surgeon Rossello replied: "One year is the best provision."
A statement from Lotus Renault F1 last night confirmed he had suffered "multiple fractures to his right arm and leg and severe cuts on his forearm, which could impact on his right hand mobility"
"Doctors are satisfied with the way the operation went. Robert's condition remains stable but serious. He has been placed into an induced coma and will be woken up in the morning."
Lotus’ principal and managing director, Eric Boullier, said: "The news of Robert's crash were a real shock to the whole team. All of us wish him a quick recovery. We have been really impressed with the way the doctors looked after him today and we would like to thank the whole team of the Santa Corona Hospital for their professional approach and dedication. I will be travelling to Italy tomorrow, along with Vitaly Petrov, in order to see Robert and tell him that we are impatiently waiting for his return."

Is Interpol Investigating Football Matches?

When most people hear the word "Interpol", they associate it with breath-taking action movies full of criminals, weapons, and sexy women. Last, week, however, rumors were spread that Interpol has begun an investigation of the football match Arsenal vs. Newcastle from the English Premiership. The news was officially announced on the french TV Channel France 2.
The match was indeed one of the strangest sports events in the Premiership ever, ending with a result of 4-4. Just when the result was 4-2 for Arsenal, the referee showed the red card to Arsenal's midfielder Abou Diaby. After that, two controversial penalties were given to Newcastle, which helped them equalize the result. Interpol tried to convince the journalists that they do not know anything about the mysterious game, but in the world of today's football, money often plays a bigger role than honesty. I think that the first football arrest in the middle of the night is only a matter of time.

Torres- betrayal or career follow

For the Liverpool fans Torres is a betrayal, but for Chealsea fans he is a potential hope. For me, Torres is someone that chases his carreer and dreams. Since Liverpool's crisis brought the team from the leading positions to the mid-, it is logical for players to search for a better prespective and realisation. In Torres' case this is Chealsea. The £50 million transfer record (for Primear League in-transfer), Torres might prove a good deal for both Abramovich and Torres himself. The question is, is he good enough? In his debute against his ex-team, he failed to cover the expectations. His lack of good form might prove ineffective for both his career and his new team. Will we see the good old El Nino, or will Torres turn into another failure of Chealsea. However Chealsea's lost against Liverpool, with Torres in the team against his old buddies, proved inlogical and lets be honest ... fail. Albramovich had onced agains spend nearly 100 million euros for the last 2 transfers and still they proved insufitient for the successful appearance of the refreshed-Chealsea. But, Abramovich, dude, money is not all. You need to raise the bay, not just give your hommies, aka players and staff, lots of money, but change the attitude and make Chealsea a champion. However this is Primier League and nothing is logical, this is why we love this beatiful game so much.
