Airsoft was created and marketed in Japan in the 1980s, due to civilian ownership of firearms being banned. Airsoft was used to closely emulate real guns. Now air soft guns have been adapted with a purely recreational application in mind. Many air soft guns are produced in China and Japan, where their distribution and sale is restricted. This has sometimes led to shipments of arms to many airsoft dealers being confiscated. Airsoft guns are also produced in the Philippines, the United States, and Taiwan. The game is a recreational activity in which participants eliminate opponents by hitting each other with round non-metallic pellets launched via replica firearms.Gameplay varies in style and composition but often range from short-term skirmishes, organized scenarios, military simulations, or historical reenactments. Combat situations on the battlefield often involve the use of common military tactics to achieve objectives set in each game. Participants typically emulate the tactical equipment and accessories used by modern military and police organizations. The guns used in airsoft are typically imitation firearms. They have a mechanism for pushing out projectiles 6 mm or 8 mm in diameter.

Liverpool are already well advanced with deals for Sunderland's Jordan Henderson, Blackburn's Phil Jones, Connor Wickham of Ipswich and also want Blackpool's Charlie Adam.

The Reds have leapfrogged Tottenham on goal difference to occupy a Europa League place - though Spurs have a game in hand. Kenny Dalglish's side have now scored 11 and conceded none in their last three home games - and the momentum is theirs as the race for Europe draws to a conclusion. Liverpool were buoyed by the return of full-back Glen Johnson after a month on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. Andy Carroll, however, was deemed fit enough only for a place on the bench against a club where he scored 33 goals in 91 games. That meant Maxi retained his place on the back of a hat-trick against Birmingham City last week. And it wasn't long before the Argentine reacquainted himself with Anfield's netting. There were just 10 minutes on the clock when a lovely sequence of Liverpool passing ended with Maxi half-volleying past Tim Krul via the leg of Danny Simpson. A period of relative calm followed before Jay Spearing eyed a shooting opportunity from 25 yards. Krul could only parry his whack but recovered before either Kuyt or Raul Meireles could conclude their attempted ambush. Shola Ameobi connected with a Joey Barton header as Newcastle threatened for the first time after half-an-hour, and there followed an uncomfortable interlude where the visitors cannonballed dead balls into Liverpool's box. The hosts responded when Lucas got his forehead to a John Flanagan cross. His attempt was good but Krul was aware. The second half began with close calls at either end: Barton firing wide from a Kevin Nolan centre and Suarez dancing past a couple of defenders at the Kop end before his shot was almost deflected beyond Krul by Mike Williamson. The Uruguayan made a nuisance of himself again on 58 minutes to earn Liverpool a penalty, hassling Williamson when most others would have let it be. Possession was gained and in a bid to recover the Newcastle defender grabbed hold of Suarez's shirt. Referee Peter Walton showed no hesitation and neither did Kuyt, sending Krul the wrong way to make it 2-0. It was Kuyt's 14th goal of the season in all competitions - and his eighth in his last seven league outings. For his next trick the Holland international turned provider, diverting the ball into the path of Suarez on 65 minutes with a sweet flick of his right boot. The No.7 couldn't miss from six yards out. With the points secure, Dalglish introduced Carroll to a standing ovation from the Kop. But it was Meireles who was next to threaten, coming within inches of making it 4-0 with a diving header from Johnson's cross.
Liverpool are three points behind Tottenham in the race for fifth, and despite Harry Redknapp's side having a game in hand they still have to play at Anfield. Spurs travel to Chelsea on Saturday evening, but whatever the outcome of that game Spearing's only concern is another three points for the Reds when Kenny Dalglish's former club Newcastle United arrive at Anfield on Sunday. "We can't look too far ahead, we have Newcastle this weekend and we need to get three points and keep the pressure on Tottenham," said Spearing. "We can't keep worrying about what other people are doing in the league, we have to keep working. "The club seems on a high at the moment and we are keeping it going by putting in good performances. "We have been doing a lot of work together and it is starting to pay off in games. "The confidence which Kenny gives everyone bounces back to him and anyone who comes in (to the team) gels straight away and the training we are doing every day is showing on the pitch. "We are working hard for one another and the good thing is as soon as we lose the ball we are fighting to get it back again and it is that desire in the side now that we want to keep going until the end of the season and finish on a high." The Wirral-born midfielder is enjoying his football under Dalglish and he is grateful for the chance he has been given to show what he can do at the highest level. "For a lot of us, including myself, it is a chance for us to get a step in and show people what we are capable of doing," he added. "For me it is about putting pressure on the likes of Stevie G and for Jack and Flanno it is to put pressure on people like Glen Johnson so you can see there is a fight for places."
