Arsene Wenger is staying in Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insisted that he would remain with Arsenal for a few more years. On Saturday, right after the 2-1 win at Norwich, the 62-year-old Frenchman stated once again that he has no intentions to leave his team at the end of the season. He said: "I have a few more years to go. I will stay and that's it", but he also admited that if club decides so, he would have no other choice to leave, but he is completely commited to his job. Wenger promised to show his commitment at the end of the season.

The Frenchman is in charge of the Gunners since 1996. He lead them to three Premier League titles, and four FA Cup wins, but he has not won a trophy since 2005.

In September Stan Kroenke, the owen of Arsenal, stated that the future of Wenger is in his hands, and that he's the only one to decide when Wenger is leaving.

In his interview to the French Newspaper L'Equipe, Arsene Wenger revealed his disappointment of the loss of key players. "For the first time I lost young players, who were reaching maturity," he said. "I suffered. It's painful to lose key men you have invested a lot in."

This statement is related to the loss of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona and Samir Nasri to Manchester City, this summer.

Arsene Wenger signed his current contract in August 2010 and it expires in the summer of 2014, but as the manager himself said he is planning to stay "another 14 years" at the club.

Liverpool's surprise victory at Stamford Bridge

LIverpool won the derby match against Chelsea in the English Premier League. Maxi Rodriguez and Glen Johnson scored for the impressive 2-1, while Daniel Sturridge was the Chelsea's goalscorer.
The beginning of the match was very intriguing and Juan Mata tried a volley in the 10th minute, but the shot was blocked by a Liverpool defender. IN the next minute, the Reds also had a chance, but Branislav Ivanovic stopped the opponents' attack. In the 21th minute Didier Drogba fired a dangerous shot from a free kick, a less than meter away from teh goal.
IN the 33rd minute, the first goal was scored. John Obi Mikel made a mistake and in the following counterattack Maxi Rodriguez scored an easy goal 1 on 1 against the goalkeeper Petr Cech.
After Liverpool's goal Chelsea launched massive attacks in order to score a goal before the end of the first half, but all efforts were unsuccessful.
During the break Andre Villas-Boas substituted Mikel with Sturridge and changed the playing style into more offensive. This refreshed the attacking style of Chelsea and a lot of dangrous attacks marked the beginning of the second half. In the 55th minute Florent Malouda advanced in Liverpool's half and fired a shot. The ball went into Sturridge, who successfully scored from 2 meters in the empty net. The following minutes were even tougher for the Liverpool's defenders. David Luiz's header was saved by Pepe Reina, and dangerous attacks resulting in shots fired by Malouda and Lampard also showed the weakness of the Liverpool's defence in this minutes of the match.
And then, suprisingly, out of nothing, an excellent raid of the defender Glen Johnson, passing through Ashley Cole, ended with a goal-scoring shot. It happened in the 87th minute, so there was no time for Chelsea to launch successful attacks, so Liverpool didn't have much trouble keeping their net safe to the end of the match.
The win gives hope to Liverpool for a place in the first 4 (the participants in the Champions League)teams in the Premier League.

PRELIMINARY POST MORTEM RESULTS FOR HICKSTEAD

Preliminary findings from the post mortem on Hickstead confirmed an aortic rupture, resulting in heart failure. More test are going to be conducted but they will problably takw two or more weeks to be completed and will probably be inconclusive about the heart rupture. The stallion that was 15 years old collapsed and died during completing his round of jumping with just four faults. Eric Lamaze, his rider was uninjured in the incident.
"The sudden loss of any horse, but especially one with the character and history of Hickstead is a shock to everyone, but our thoughts are especially with Eric Lamaze and John Fleischhacker at this difficult time”, said FEI Veterinary Director Graeme Cooke. He adds that “Under FEI regulations any equine death at an FEI event must be investigated and a post mortem undertaken. The preliminary findings have revealed a catastrophic rupture of the major blood vessel, the aorta, which very rapidly led to heart failure. This is an unusual incident in Jumping and while we are investing the very many possible causes of a rupture of this nature, it is possible we may never know the real reason behind it.”

Arsenal vs. West Bromwich

The strike merely confirmed what the game was clearly telling us – Arsenal were in control.
They continued to hold a firm but hardly vice-like grip on the game until they got their second six minutes before the break.
Van Persie cut the ball back form the byline and Vermaelen thumped home his first goal since the fateful day Aron Ramsey broke his leg at Stoke in February 2010.
It also put Arsenal into positive goal difference for the first time this season.
The first half had been comfortable for an Arsenal side that had barely got out of third gear. The stats said they had enjoyed 71 per cent of possession and had three shots on target, scoring two goals. West Brom had not mustered a shot.
Vermaelen nearly killed off any comeback just before the hour when he slid a header wide from Van Persie’s corner.
Just after that Chris Brunt fly-kicked a shot high over the bar. A decent chance, poorly executed.
But for all Arsenal’s control they had much more left in them. On the hour, Gervinio darted in from the left and Ramsey hooked a shot across the face of goal.
Roy Hodgson brought on Somen Tchoyi for Zoltan Gera to strengthen his front line. They had had precious little joy this afternoon.
However, by now, Arsenal were stirring again. Foster was forced to make a couple of solid saves in quick succession. First from Gervinio’s low drive and then after Song tried to find the top corner from the edge of the box.
In the 70th minute, Walcott drove in from the right flank and Van Persie hoisted his effort over the bar.
Wenger then brought off Ramsey and Gervinio for Tomas Rosicky and Yossi Benayoun. It seemed he wanted this game closed off – and that is just what he got.
Sixteen minutes from time, Van Persie touched the ball back for Arteta to sweep home a third. Game, set and match.
Tchoyi escaped shortly afterwards but Vermaelen chased him down all too easily and blocked at the second attempt. It was West Brom’s best chance of the game and also a microcosm of the 90 minutes.
If anything, the visitors had the best period in the final 10 minutes when the game was up.
Steven Reid’s header and James Morrison’s drive were both held by Szczesny.
However, nothing would dent a super (and straightforward) afternoon for Arsenal.

Andy Murray wins against former No.1 Andy Roddick

Murray, the third in the current rankings of ATP, managed to win against Andy Roddick. On Thursday in Paris, Murray won with a lead of 6-2 and managed to reach the quarter finals of the BNP Paribbas Masters. Murray has played exceptionally well throughout these past three months, winning 27 out of all 28 matches he played in many of the previous tournaments, such as the PTT Thailand Open and Shanghai Rolex Masters. Roddick was certainly displeased with the result of the game, mainly because of Murray's defensive style and also because of the fact that he will be outside the Top 10 for the first time in several years. Nevertheless the match was exceptional even though the result was somewhat expected.

Barca agonizing against a third vision team

Barcelona earned 1-0 away win in their first match of the third round of Copa del Rey against CE L'Hospitalet. The Catalunians were not putting much efforts in the game and the team from the Spanish third division had a lot of opportunities to score in Jose Manuel Pinto's goal. The only goal that was scored in the whole match, watched by 6000 fans of Hospitaletat, was scored by Andres Iniesta at the end of the first half. The midfileder received an assist from Cesc Fabregas and eliminated the goalkeeper, who early on in the game was able to block a few shots fired by David Villa.
Barca played without most of its stars. Some of them are preparing with their national teams, others were just given a break by Pep Guardiola. However, Carles Puyol, Fabregas, Xavi, Iniesta, and Villa were all in the starting eleven.
Iniesta's goal was a real pleasure for the viewers. After series of passes in front of Hospitaletat's penalty box, the Mondial 2010 hero fired a powerful shot, scoring the goal. Earlier, VIlla and Keita missed good opportunities.
Barcelona had more opportunities in the second half, but after a corner Puyol's header just hit the bar. Hospitalitat managed to complete few dangerous counter-attacks, without success.
Iniesta was substituted in the 62nd minute of the match by Busquets, and a bit later Fabregas had another opportunity, after a good pass from Keita. 15 minutes before the end of the match, Viila again tried to score, unsuccessfully. In the last minutes there were a few interesting in front of Pinto's goal, also. The young 18 years old Rafinha subsituted Fabregas, and another promising player, Tello, even was in the starting eleven.
