Marcus Ehning is one of the greatest show jumping riders in present. He is the winner of the 2010 Global Champions Tour. For that Marcus took 300000 a cheque as an addition to his prizemoney during the tournament. He was as well a very good awarded pony jumping rider. Marcus won 2 times team gold at the European Championships in 1990/91 with his pony Starlight. when he turned 16, Marcus finally started riding large horses. Orchidee, Opium and Talan were the most important horses in the beginning. These 3 horses ensured the win team gold at the European Championships four times.
With the horse For Pleasure Marcus was part of the Gold medal team at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. The jumping horses of Ehning now are Sandro Boy, Gitania, When competing for Germany Nolte’s Küchengirl is also an important mare, which was ridden also by his brother Johannes.
Besides the top horses, Marcus also takes care of a new, young horses. About 10 horses are worked by him on daily basis. He was placed several times on GCT Grand Prix's in 2009 and managed to finish the year as World number one. After that he won his third World Cup Final on Plot Blue in 2010. This makes Marcus Ehning the only rider that have won this competition three times on three different horses.
